If you don’t know about the 888.com world poker crown then frankly where have you been?! It’s one of the biggest poker tournaments ever with a guaranteed $3mill prize pool and a guaranteed $1mill first place prize! Well that’d beef up my bankroll nicely
There’s been heavy advertising for this and it’s great to see it have such a mainstream take up – hopefully there’ll be lots of fish. MMmmm. Fish.
Anyway – I’m going to do my best to try and keep updated with this a little and may even post some updates on this here little old blog. I’m not sure ‘full coverage’ is exactly what it is but I like the badge so here you go:
Recently, the online poker operator, Absolute Poker, has been discovered to have certain players able to see the hole cards of other players.
This has been revealed through extensive and detailed statistical analysis, and consideration of a large number of hand history records.
Please show your support for this movement in the following ways:
Ok, so you’ve heard it all before – don’t draw to a flush on a paired board, make sure your outs are clean, don’t limp-re-raise with anything, let alone 86 off-suit yadda yadda yadda.
Here I present you 5 poker videos and a quick lesson next to each one. Enjoy!
1. Don’t play high stakes poker while tired, drunk or high on weed brownies.
Final pot $95,795.50 won by limp-re-raising pre-flop with 86 off-suit. Textbook.
You can read the hand history and back story and more funny comments here. Go wake up emil, go wake up emil!
2. ZOMG – Full House, can’t fold!
A sick big pot between Gus Hansen and Daniel Negranau – “You’re looking at a man who just lost almost $300k cash.” Final pot $575,700.
3. Don’t bet unless you have a hand. Or, more to the point, don’t play against Phil Ivey.
Phil Ivey bets, Paul Jackson raises, Phil Ivey re-raises, Paul Jackson re-re-raises, Phil Ivey pushes all in.. With nothing! Heads up at the final table of the Monte Carlo Millions. Although this wasn’t the final hand it was clearly an important one and the difference between first and second place here is $400,000.
4. Always keep your cool. Stay focused.
Tuff Fish: A legend among poker players provides entertainment, you most certainly need sound for this. He hits his set and already he’s complaining “We couldn’t get an ace-king out here could we!?” I hear ya tuff fish.
5. Always pay attention to your hand and the board.
Tuff Fish again! This time, he hits the mortal nuts (with a straight flush) and doesn’t even notice… 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. Nothing!
I’m aiming to get a list together of all the UK poker blogs that are online at the moment. Ideally I’d like to get bloggers who are active at the moment and have a post more recent than Dec 05.
If your blog is gathering virtual dust, clogging up the airways of jamie gold then you needen’t bother applying, if however you have a poker blog which is regularly updated (or, hell, even if it is old, if you take the mick out of Jamie Gold I’ll let you in!) then drop me an email to tom [at ] livewirepoker.co.uk or leave a link in the comments.
Also – if you play any cash poker then why not add a link to which games you play in! It’s simple!
Welcome one and all – this is the humble abode of the Livewire Poker blog. While the traffic is very low on the site at the moment we’re hoping to be growing quickly and adding plenty of cash games for you to find and play in.
At the moment you can find me in the following games:
